The Experience of Removing my Wisdom Tooth

On the first-day morning of my spring break, I went to the dentist and finally removed one of my wisdom teeth! I have been worried about it since my winter vacation, and I asked lots of my friends about their experiences of removing their wisdom teeth.

Some of my friends said that it was the most terrible experience in their lifetime and described how horrible it was to me, which makes me really anxious. For instance, my dad said he removed his four wisdom teeth at one time, which made my grandfather really angry and he lost 2 or 3 kilograms at that time. On the contrary, some said it was nothing and told me not to be afraid. One of my high school friends removed his teeth even before the day he went to the interview of college, and he mentioned that the process of growing the teeth was even tougher than the process of removing them. Still some told me their... interesting experience. One of my best friends, Jamie, who studies at National Central University, shared that after her teeth removing experience, her mom asked her a cute question, “Hey baby, why is your left cheek so swollen, are you ok?” But actually, the teeth Jamie removed are on her right cheek!

Luckily speaking, I only spent less than ten minutes removing my tooth. My dentist looked at the X-ray photograph and said, “It might be easy and won’t spend a lot of time.” At that time, I didn’t know whether I should believe him or not. First, he gave me some anesthetics, told me to wait for about 1 or 2 minutes, and started to deal with another patient’s problem. Next, he went back, checked again if the anesthetics went well, and started to remove my tooth. Actually, I didn’t even know he finished removing it until he asked me if I want to keep my wisdom tooth, and fortunately, I didn’t have a swollen cheek! I have never thought that my teeth-removing experience will go smoothly and be painless. After stepping out of the clinic, I went to the drugstore not only to receive my medicine but also to buy hydrogen peroxide for preserving my first wisdom tooth!

In sum, the experience of removing wisdom teeth is not that scary. Nonetheless, the longest and toughest period is the time for me to take X-ray photos, and it makes me even more painful than the process of removing my tooth. I hope if I need to remove my teeth next time, I will be as fortunate as this time.
