Book Recommendations

Recently, I read some books after the mid-term exam for giving me myself a week of break. The first one that I want to introduce is the biography of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, and the other is a kind of chicken soup for the soul. Actually, I have bought another one to read, which is The Infinite Game, written by Simon Sinek. I really enjoy the moment that I wake up at 5 AM, having my breakfast and reading without being bothered by any message or any person.

The biography deals with the history of Kate’s whole family in the first half of the book, and it emphasizes the love story and the personalities of Kate in the later part. I think it is Kate’s calmness, confidence, and bravery that help her be what she is now. Also, it is inevitable that many people compare her with Princess Diana, even before she gets married to Prince William. In my opinion, though many people think Kate is really lucky to be part of the British royal family because she has a humble birth, we cannot neglect the truth that she really works hard. She works hard not because she wants to get married to the prince but for herself! Some fun facts in the story are: first, Kate likes some bread with Marmite, and second, Elizabeth II only told Prince William that if there’s any interesting party, he has to invite her before his entering college.

As for the second book, I read it because the book itself has occupied the bestseller of Eslite for more than half year, and I like some concepts in the book. For instance, it mentions that lipstick is more important than tissue. If you have the time wasting on wiping out your tears, why not just putting on the lipstick again and go back to your own “battlefield”, which might make you more confident. Or another concept is “the more self-disciplined you are, the more confident you will be.” Nonetheless, I think the author should cite the original author of some texts but not just make them to look like her own ideas.

Another two books I’d like to read are The Infinite Game and the biography of Princess Diana, and I want to borrow “The Man in the Case”, written by Anton Chekhov because I find out that the author of 《房思琪的初戀樂園》used the concept of Chekhov in her book, but it's really a pity that it seems like that I cannot borrow it from our library. Since I was little, I am a real bookworm, and I always search for others’ book recommendations online. For me, reading and going shopping for clothes are somehow the same. They are one kind of investment, at least to me, and I always get some inspiration from reading.
